Florida State Regulations
Anyone born on or after January 1, 1988 who operates a vessel powered by 10 horsepower or more must pass an approved boater safety course (usually only takes about 15 minutes) and have in his/her possession photographic identification and a boating safety education identification card issued by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (received after taking the boater safety course). If you are requested to pay more than $8.99 you are taking the test for the life-time license; this takes several hours to complete
If the driver is born after 1987, the license is required at all jetski and waverunner rental companies in Florida along with a photo ID
If you are born in 1987 or before, you only need a valid photo I.D.
